Where: Loaded LAB → Reference / Compare controls.
How to use it
- Choose Reference: None, Session Best or Personal Best where the workspace offers them. Session Best uses suitable evidence in the current Session; Personal Best needs compatible owned historical data.
- Read the reason when a reference is unavailable. A best time in a summary alone is not a usable geometric reference trace.
- Switch between modes while preserving the active lap selection. The reference is a neutral contextual line, not an instructed racing line.
- Turn reference Off/None to return to your own trace alone.
Options and defaults
| Control | Fresh default | Values / action | Condition or meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reference | None on a fresh workspace | None / Session Best / Personal Best | Only compatible available evidence |
Operating principle and expected output
Eligibility depends on compatible car/track/lap evidence and available detailed data, not just the existence of a faster number. This is separate from the Race Engineer After eligible laps comparison setting.
When output is absent or limited
Missing detailed data, incompatible identities or insufficient trustworthy geometry can make comparison unavailable. Do not interpret the absence as evidence that your lap was slow or invalid. LAB remains descriptive and experimental.
